Robert F. Kennedy Children’s Action Corps administers the National Youth Project Using Minibikes (NYPUM).
NYPUM is a nationwide network of nearly 50 programs sponsored by the American Honda Motor Company to engage youth and promote their development through an exciting and challenging activity. Since its inception, NYPUM has proven to be highly effective with children who have significant challenges with their behavior or academic performance. In more recent years, NYPUM has demonstrated that its services are also valuable as a prevention program to motivate all youth to make positive choices.
A key component to NYPUM’s success is its capability to hold youth accountable for their decisions. NYPUM combines the attractiveness of riding a motor bike with incentives tied to achievement of specific goals in each youth’s success plan.
