Our Programs

The RFK Children’s Action Corps serves children and youths ranging in age from 7 to 18 with a wide variety of needs – from secure or residential treatment, to detention diversion, to community-based outreach programs that help build social and life skills. Our highly trained and dedicated staff – including counselors, educators, and clinicians – provides comprehensive, integrated services directed at healing, learning, and confidence-building. Those services include:

Education – The RFK Children’s Action Corps provides a safe environment in which young people can focus on their education and develop practical life and job skills. We operate two special education schools for day students and provide academic and vocational opportunities for children in our residential and secure treatment facilities. We also offer outreach programs that provide children with mentors and help teach them how to become responsible, self-sufficient adults.

Clinical support – We combine our educational services with regular clinical services that help children work through their emotional issues and learn to make healthier choices.

Family services – Our staff works closely with families and foster families to help ease children’s integration back into their homes and communities. We also provide job and life-skills coaching, housing information, and clinical support to families, helping to ensure that every child returns to a stable and healthy home environment.

Adventure Education – A critical component of our programming, Adventure Education exposes children to new experiences, teaches them to work with others, and helps them build confidence. Daily activities might include rock climbing, a ropes course, hiking, snowshoeing, kayaking, or camping.
